The sale of BRIOMICA®-MICASOFT® mica by EVOLMAT MINERALS
EVOLMAT MINERALS supplies BRIOMICA®–MICASOFT® mica in the following forms:
- FLOCKS, carefully selected and graded according to requirements and desired properties (particle size, density, colour, chemical composition, etc.).
- POWDERS obtained by DRY GRINDING or WET GRINDING. The grinding parameters are adjusted to achieve the desired fineness, particle size and density. EVOLMAT MINERALS supplies powders ranging from coarse to micronised.
EVOLMAT MINERALS sells mica under the brand names MICA-SOFT® (wet-ground powders) and BRIOMICA® for other products.
In addition to grinding, EVOLMAT MINERALS offers the option of CALCINING micas. This process purifies the product by minimising loss on ignition, whilst also making the product lighter and promoting delamination of the mica. Calcination also allows the product to be given different shades that are highly prized in decorative applications, such as the ‘gold glitter’ colour.
What are the applications for BRIOMICA®-MICASOFT® mica?
MICA is used in a variety of applications, such as:
- paints, where it acts as a protective barrier and film-strengthening agent, as well as providing anti-corrosion, waterproofing and decorative properties…
- all types of plasters, such as jointing compounds for plasterboard and decorative plasters
- composites and plastics as a reinforcing agent, for its thermal stability, matting effect, etc.
- powdered cosmetics
- in welding electrodes
- brake linings
- fire extinguisher powders
- in fire-resistant coatings and panels for the building industry
- in electrical engineering
- in automotive soundproofing
- for decorative applications in plasters, ceramics, glass, resins, etc.
What are the properties of BRIOMICA®-MICASOFT® mica?
MICA has a lamellar crystalline structure consisting of extremely thin sheets. Whether used on its own or incorporated as a filler, the composition of MICA enables it to offer remarkable properties: excellent resistance to temperature and UV radiation, very high chemical inertness and high dielectric strength, low permeability to gases and liquids, high fire resistance, and exceptional durability. It provides mechanical reinforcement and enhances the adhesion of coatings to substrates. Its flakes offer sought-after decorative effects such as a shimmering or randomised finish.
How is our BRIOMICA®-MICASOFT® mica packaged and delivered?
What is FERHYDROX® Iron Hydroxide?
MICA is the name given to a family of minerals belonging to the silicate group, specifically the phyllosilicate subgroup, consisting mainly of aluminium and potassium silicate. Along with quartz and feldspar, it is one of the constituents of granite.
MICA is a mineral with a lamellar structure. This structure gives it some very distinctive properties.
EVOLMAT MINERALS supplies micas from the muscovite family, as well as phlogopite and biotite.
